Protect the Pap

Having open, and informative dialogues regarding genital health for people with a cervix can mean the difference between life, and death.

Yet, even in sex education classes, it’s skimmed over, and met with the belief that our bodies are to be embarrassed of. As someone who has endometriosis, and polycystic ovarian syndrome, I know all too well the importance of reproductive health.

Not too long ago, cervical cancer was the #1 deadliest form of cancer for those with a cervix. Pap tests have helped lower that number from 1, to 14.

Unfortunately for those in the LGBTQA+ community, there is a lot of misinformation regarding the health of those with a cervix. This, combined with new changes to the screening guidelines that reduce access to the Pap, can leave thousands of us even more vulnerable than we are now.

We can’t let this happen.

We need to be tested for the sake of our very survival. These tests are a human right, and cannot be taken away. That would be tantamount to genocide.

Do not let anyone take your power. This is our health. This is our wellness. This is our lives.
